My Final Blog

Here we are, at the Finish Line I know all of our hard work and dedication with bring a smile to children, parents and other support in the field of early childhood.  As we enter into the field of early childhood, we are prepared, determined to change to advocate for young children's lives and parent engagement. We are all are more than conquerors! Congratulations on your sacrifices of earning your master's degree.

I want to take this time to think of all my instructors, colleagues, group discussion, blogs assignments and encouraging videos throughout this course. Learning from each of the experience has broadened my understanding of early childhood, never assume any particular situation. Always ask clarifying questions if needed. Some of the coursework at Walden University was vigorous, required much time researching yet was all worth it.Thank you all.

I have learned to be “Be Proactive” — is about changing your mindset from someone who is acted upon to someone who acts. It’s about reminding yourself that you are in charge of your life and how you respond to it. Also, Begin With the End in Mind” — Once you know that you create a personal mission statement based on timeless principles and your core values that help you develop and practice these “eulogy virtues.” This stems from habits  "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People," that we had applied throughout our coursework.

I plan on transforming adults awareness in the field of early childhood by teaching a variety of methods that influence young children's life(social skills, cognitive and emotional perception). My long-term goal is to facilitate to as many organizations regarding health and safety in the field of early childhood education. As a professor, collaborating with other professors on improving rapid childhood education reform, will improve their (the child) ability to learn, play and work at school and home. Schools and parents working together will be a significant part of their child development process.

Special thank you to all my colleagues and Dr. Dartt for allowing us to express ourselves throughout this course. There's so much to be thankful; I believe that our passion for persevering in the field of Early Education is one of them. I appreciate working with everyone and wish them the best of luck in the future and Gratulation On Your New Journey Of Live.

Right now, Save the Children remains gravely concerned about the well-being of children in the custody of the U.S. government after crossing our southern border. We know from our nearly 100 years of service that family separation and detention can cause severe, long-lasting trauma, which ultimately results in the loss of childhood.

Help Support Immigrant Families

Chain migration must end:
In the US, reunifying immigrant families member (spouse and children) should remain a priority of immigration systems. As of today, our system allows for single immigration to secure a green card of his or her parents or siblings that will ensure the extended family to relocate within the US. Family-based immigrants do not factor in what immigrants can contribute to the United States economy nor the cost of bringing in less-educated immigrants.

Adopting employment for immigration system:
Improving the employment-based system for immigration should be added to their green card. Migration would ensure the number of green cards recipients employed and significantly contribute to the economy, legal permanent resident status within the first few years. Fulfilling their employment obligations will allow them to remain in the US.

Change the Diversity Visa program cap:
The Diversity visa program prioritizes his or her merit can contribute to the U.S economy. These country caps limit the amount of immigration's that comes over from other countries every year countries like Mexico, India, and China. By changing these reforms restrictions, if the U.S what allowed more highly achieve individuals from around the world to fulfill their opportunities to migrate to the U.S. Link to The No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) are two of the nation’s most important federal laws relating to the education of children.

As a CTE Education Teacher, I would enjoy teaching a course at a college that would provide students with knowledge of career opportunities in the field of teaching and other school site educational professions. Standards, which include basic academics, safety, communication, interpersonal and problems solving skills, integrated throughout the course.  Also, having the class participation in fieldwork at school sites under the guidance of the teacher. All students are required to observe and or/participate in a variety of settings and classrooms at the primary/ elementary, middle/junior high and secondary levels.

As a CTE Education Teacher, I must be aware of the pathway which is designed to provide students with a progressive achievement leading to technical skill proficiency, a credential, a certificate, or a degree. Also, offers both a theoretical and applied academic foundation to the components of psychology, including cognitive development, biosocial development, and psychosocial development.  In fact, assuring all students, their high quality of educational experience.

Communication and Collaboration in Early Childhood

The last past 8 weeks of communication and collaboration in early childhood has been a successful Journey. I want to thank everyone in advance for all the group corporation, discussions and revelations regarding their experience in the field of early childhood. I have learned from you guys (colleagues) how to conduct conversations with staff, parent, and student on multiple levels of early childhood. It has been a delight to make personal connections in the field of early childhood as a site supervisor, educator, teacher assistants and other support experience that the team effective shared out.

Congratulations to all!

I want to say congratulations to everyone who's made it this far in the field of early childhood. I believe as Educators it is our duty to respond to the child's interest, parents interest, and the community's awareness through collaboration and supported one another.

I personally want to thank everyone for allowing me to have access to their blog postings for future references and guidelines of support. Your testimonies, commitment, and hard work will not go unnoticed but will be displayed in my classroom environment.

Toolbox strategies I have learned:

Norming

Norming phrase has been a difficult task from my experience working in early childhood. When individuals are thinking about themselves rather than working together as a team to create core values that impact the children's visions and understanding.

In my opinion, the norm should be an opportunity where individuals pick up one another with encouraging words at the feedback that's appropriate. Listen and learn from one another viewpoint rather than criticizing and put-downs.

Moving forward, Norm any particular setting should be building Trust, relying on one of that feedback, and an opportunity for individuals to promote new ideas and suggestions in the field of early childhood.

Personally, when delegating a group or individual of information regarding early childhood, we (the groups) must understand the core values of the program along with norms of learning from one other.

As we adjourn from the journey at Walden University it is my duty to stay in contact but follow colleagues. I will look back on this journey of where we started and when we are done or at the finish line while earning a master's degree. Each of our colleagues has left the imprint on our blogging posting that can be evidence of the journey of Who We Are at the moment, and Who Are We going to impact in the future.

Nonviolent communication a conflict management

In the work environment, it is hard for colleagues and staff members to agree on everything; disagreement is okay. Educators must be mindful of the 3 R's wasn't sure strategies of work environments and other outcomes conflict management. 

My current position as an instructional aide is to develop lesson plans and strategy for peer mediation. Allowing students to overcome other students problem by active listening and using iMessage or I heard you say this point of view. I have counseled with students and staff members regarding lack of communication in the work environment. When counseling students and staff members, it's important to have an open mindset approach, ensuring positive solutions and outcomes. Applying a win-win solution that both parties can understand and reasoning with one another's opinion or viewpoint. When using the 3 R's just as respecting, the individual opinion (students or staff members) sometimes agreeing or disagreeing with be the first step of dealing with conflict management. I also benefit from learning about the principles of NVC; of being mindful of the situation. Being mindful of the situation in addressing the fact from fiction approach was helpful.

Both parties (students and staff members) address the important decency behavior of overreacting and not reflecting on the outcome or outburst effect on others.

Applying what you know about yourself and other.

Self-esteem reference to how you feel about yourself including your words your values as a person. (O'Hair &Wiemann, 2015, p.48).

Self-esteem challenges one's ability to view themselves as either a positive or negative influence on society. For an example, when someone looks in the mirror how do they view themselves, someone, that's confident, some of that arrogant, someone that's motivated. Or does someone view themselves as timid, bashful, incompetent and unwilling to speak up during any group discussions or disagreement? Self-esteem, it's something that each individual will face on a daily basis, ultimately the individuals can make that choice of being proactive or neglecting with their self-worth values.

Self-Efficacy the ability to predict actual success from self-concept and self-esteem is self-efficacy. (O'Hair &Wiemann, 2015, p.50). For an example, when an individual is aware of self-efficacy they are unlocking pathways of communications that may vary on that individual's outcome, experience, persuasion, and feedback situation. Educators, need to reframe their choice words to seek other idealistic viewpoints experience.

In my personal life self-esteem and self-efficacy, it's something that I hold value in the field of early childhood and educational settings. Being honest about my own vision of life and other, allows me to search deeper about the purpose in life and why we (Human) do what we do.

Acknowledging the power of self-esteem and self-efficacy, empower my professional walk-in Children Development communication skills. Understanding the dynamics of communication through verbal, nonverbal and gesture will be an ongoing journey of opportunities of understanding one another (race, sex, gender, and age).

Toolkit for improving communication

When you think of a toolkit it has several tools and gadgets to fix things, however communication the similar depending on your audience. (Babies, children, young adults, parents Educators and so on). In my current work environment, there are a number of children that have diverse conversations from grade levels 3rd through 8th grade. Valley Life charter school in California is creating a culture shift regarding 7 habits approach to learning about any given topic or problem.

This week I learned from observation nonverbal communication strategies from the student in 3rd through 8th grade. Students boys and girls are very dynamic when expressing himself through their body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice. These examples were evidence in the playground and in the cafeteria. During recess children often show their facial expressions when playing football with one another. In the cafeteria, the girls seem to be yelling at one another ( their tone of voice) of excitement enjoy of hanging around one another.

Working at Valley Life charter school, there are number ways to relate to the children cultural ethnicity. I had the privilege to sit in a Spanish class and students were discussing different cultures and activities they would like to have on campus. For an example students and staff were thinking about having a culture night, that different ethnicity can bring their own food. Cultures such as Portuguese, Asian, African-American, Latino and other ethnicities. I believe that this is a great way to include the community and student involvement at Valley Life charter school. 

Evaluating conversations of agreement or disagreement at Valley Life charter school was interesting. This week's as we study communication, I noticed staff and students dialogue between one another. Interesting fact that students and teachers often agree or disagree depending on the situation, however, was courteous to one another. Students and staff members often repeated what they heard, for example, I heard you say this but I disagree and this is the reason why or I agree with you have or can we improve on this area. By observing their conversations allow me to seek first to understand the approach of the 7 Habits. Being an active listener of communication.

Valley Life charter school is unusual compared to other schools by using The 7 Habit approach. Students and staff members have the 7 Habits printed or painted on their walls in their classroom. Having these quotes, phrases available for students and staff is a friendly reminder of how we communicate with one another if there's an agreement or disagreement occurs.

This week's assignment has improved my communications of being an active listener without my bias point of views.

Two and a half Men

As I observe the TV show “Two and a Half Men,” the main characters are Charlie and Alan

Charlie seems to have a weird sense of humor when relating to women issues. Also, Charlie doesn't assume or care about anyone's Behavior if they're sad, happy or angry for many reasons. When he wants your attention he normally leaves in and uses hand gestures of acceptance. Whether he's tapping you on the shoulder, pointing at certain items, what you're doing this is his way of connecting with you.

Alan, characteristic is very observant of watching the TV show. He is constantly moving his hands and motion of needing a particular thing or help with a certain situation. His personality seems charismatic relating to other people's issues and concerns. (most likely drama).

Based on watching this TV show with no volume their characters seem to come to life by watching their facial expression, body language, and gestures. Each character this blade affections of emotion that were sad, happy or angry through their actions. (pointing at an object, giving someone a hug and so on).

This TV show was not appealing to myself because I normally don't watch this program. However, if I was watching a familiar program such as “America Gots Talent,” I would most likely be in tune with the audience, the individual performance.

After 10 minutes of watching Two and a Half Men with no volume, then turning the volume on, Charlie has a hard time showing emotion and to the ladies he encounters.

Examples of poor listening: Charlie’s listening skills are very poor because he does not focus on the situation or conversation that's taking place. His characteristic falls under his habit of not being Proactive in a relationship commitment.

Example of social loafing: Charlie's characteristics of social loafing is evidence when the communicating his desire for meeting women. Is self-centered personal agenda.

It's important to control your emotion even if you're not talking. 

Communication Skill

I have a friend who is Professor at College of Sequoias in California. Mr. Parker is an English teacher always showing his honesty with all students, He is open-minded to learning and compassionate about teaching students about English. Mr. Parker teaches a variety of classes from immediate and advanced English courses. His admiration to teach all generations the proper way of using grammar and English and have inspired me to do the same with early childhood. His passion for sharing information to all ages regarding English is something that I would like to mentor for all ages in early childhood (children, young children adults, and educators). Sharing my passion growing up along with their passion will be an amazing journey. Together creating a memorable day in history for our next generation.

Professional hopes and goals

One hope for educators in the field of early childhood to allow children to experience the diversity in the classroom environment.
If educators are willing to go the extra mile of including students, family members and the community regarding diversity in their local area, this will help educate awareness about diversity. Awareness of diversity can be displayed in our local facilities, schools, and community agreements and disagreements; most important working together.

I believe as a young educator in the field of early childhood is to incorporate as many the culture, family structure, values, ethnicity, and other significant factors about diversity as you know it. I'm eager to hear from another point of view about diversity in the environment we live in.

One goal for the educator is to set aside adversities regarding equality and justice.
It is important for educators to help promote diversity, equality and social justice with Working Families through education. Family members that understand their child's interest, are positioning their future with great impact on learning. If parents are willing to have an open mindset of learning with the educator or teacher, they are creating a trustworthy bond of opportunities of self-worth and self-image that contributes to the field of Early Childhood experience.

I believe that Educators in the field of Early Childhood can advocate for equality and justice with any facility. (School, daycare, home provider). I believe it's important to be open and honest when dealing with parents, staff, community regarding any children's expectation or belonging. (International or residence).

To my colleagues:
Life is like a box of chocolates, however, don't eat them all in one sitting. The Journey of earning your MS. in Early Childhood Starts Now, be proactive, be encouraged most important to be faithful to your audience. The countdown to graduation is near, be patient, be willing, be vigilant!

The Personal Side of Bias, Prejudice, and Oppression

Throughout this week we have been discussing biases and prejudice in regards to sex, gender, and age. I would say that I have experience prejudgment (or judge) because of my colored of skin. My experience that I share with my colleagues regarding High School experience can fall under prejudgment, microaggression and unfair incidence of being misrepresentative.

The scenario was, my friend was six foot one African-American and I was five foot nine same ethnicity. We were at a football game and my friend took something from a white woman and I was blamed for the incident. Socially and emotionally this can leave a scar, that spirals bad behavior such as crime, drugs and other behaviors that are not appropriate because of this incident. in many cases, you are left with two decisions to respond or known as the fork in the road the positive behavior or the negative behavior. Something inside me told me to persevere this incident and focus on the positive behaviors and don't blame someone else for their misinterpretation or false doing. Unfortunately, this was an opportunity to evaluate other people's opinions, thoughts, and suggestions about some ethnicity, age sex, and gender. (Arsenio Hall, used to say things that make you go mmm).

My expression back then and now to always be mindful of other people's ethnicity without assuming anything. (Behavior, age, sex or gender). Always be honest, and transparent when discussing feelings that may strike a conflict issue that someone may not agree upon. Always seek to understand what the other person experience, outside of your own experience. Being proactive if a touchy topic or issue comes across with dignity in-class conversations. Be vulnerable, to ask questions or concerns rather than assuming expectations. Last but not least, be humble with yourself knowing who you are and what you stand for; in faith, expectation, self-worth and beyond.

I have experience working with many teachers in the educational field, one particular teacher that stood out from the rest was a PE teacher in Middle School. This teacher took the time to share with me African American cultural values, expectations and role models for other African American children who suffer and struggle. At the time I was absorbing all this information and now I'm waiting to become a professor to teach young adults

Practicing Awareness of Microaggressions

Microaggression is a new term that is discovered I was unaware of the word Microaggression with the help of this course reading and Dr. Derald Wing Sue presentation, I'm now aware of practices awareness of Microaggression. This Journey has challenged my way of thinking for me, my family connotation demeanor.

A challenge I faced in high school.

I remember riding my bike to go watch a football game nearby, as I was arriving I saw a friend of mine named Kyle. Kyle was African American and was about 6 feet tall compared to myself same ethnicities but height of 5 feet 10 inches. It so happened that we met up there at the same time. Kyle was a disturbed kid always having problems in school staying focused, and behavior issues. By all means, I was not a perfect but I rarely got in trouble, getting in trouble was not appealing to me. Long story short Kyle and I talked for a few minutes (at the football game) and we when our separated, hang out with our own friends. Meanwhile, a white woman noticed us talking for a few minutes, I didn't think anything of it because there are several people (adults and children) at the football game. No biggie on my part!

Approximately 30 minutes after arriving at the game, the same white woman was yelling something and was heading in my direction near the gate. I noticed Kyle ran right out of the front gate for some strange reason. Apparently, the white woman was calling the police, I didn't know this until she got closer to me near the front gate.  The police (white male) arrived and the white woman shared with him, that someone took something from her purse; and pointed at me. What!! After I explained to the police pleading my case, the officer put my bike in his back of his vehicle put me in the backseat and take me home.

My experience in high school of microaggression was something I had to deal with on a day-to-day basis of accusing the wrong person. For example, you look like, you fit the description of, you're smarter than the average person of your race. I was unaware of the clashing of racial realities of unintentional and visible through natural causes. I can see how society misinterprets, deliberately, unintentionally us forms of microaggression to persuade others to think a certain way.

The part that I said say What! Early, the white women accuse me of being the wrong person. This wasn't the first time I been accused, I calmly share with both adult figures the height difference and my group of friends there at the game. The white one woman was persistent it was me, and the officer was in the catch-22 to her response compared to a child's reaction. The officer was cool about taking me home. I never been in it the backseat of a cop car, and have no plans of that experience again.

Perspective on Diversity and Culture

Kevin a middle school English teacher: English

Culture is not just simply you ethnicity. It is much more than that. It is a person's religious beliefs, language, clothing, likes and dislikes. It encompasses their whole being. To me, culture cannot be defined simply. It is a person's essence of being. It is the reason I love living in the United States because I feel it makes us a stronger nation due to the fact we do not have one culture represented. It is the mixing of cultures that makes us such a strong and unified nation. With tolerance growers unity. Now if everyone can embrace individuality and accept different cultures then we would be even stronger as a nation. America is an experiment worth fighting for in my opinion.

We as Americans and as humans can learn a lot from diversity. The more diverse the more a person can learn from others. People of different cultures bring so much potential as far as the knowledge that we all can tap into. Cultural diversity is intellectual power if a person is open to it. Look at people throughout history that have tried to stifle diversity. It has not ended well for them. Diversity is not easy but well worth fighting for. I feel that a balance of diversity and equality can coexist but it takes an educated and open mind. I believe that through education you can have both. An educated society can achieve great things. I am glad I live in the time I do. Now has been a time of cultural diversity and striving for equality. Are we completely equal though?  The answer is no. We have a lot more to learn. Education, I believe is the key.

I believe culture has to do with group norms and expectations.  Diversity is found in gender, Age, religion and other beliefs systems.

Culture diversity in the Hispanic culture was closely related to the other countries culture. Hispanics have their own culture, of working together as a family to provide traditions that are passed down.

When you gave the opportunity to ask friends about culture, each person expresses culture based on their individual experience and upbringing. That's why I believe in the United States culture, can't be small groups of individuals having different backgrounds and a religious purpose.

Culture can be simply sharing other people's interest in a small group setting, completely different from their own culture. I noticed that people are willing and open-minded to share their experience while entertaining your thoughts and ideas. For an example, in the Hispanic culture during Christmas, mothers are traditionally made tamales as a given of thinks to their family members. Regardless if you're part of the Hispanic culture or not, a token of thanks and gratitude. Which was similar to our readings in discussions of this week's assignment regarding culture.

The aspect that I omitted to was really understanding diversity. Diversity cannot be described in one word, phrase or statement, it coexists by education and having an open mindset of accepting other cultures. A journey of endless opportunities.

My Family's Culture

The three items that I would take with me that would represent my family culture would be the Bible, a recent family photo, and a backpack of drinking water.

The Bible, represents the love of God in the fear of No Evil, through diversity and trials and tribulations. Keeping our passion and comfort alive in his testimony and Adventures of life.

Have any recent photo of family members just in case we get separated or something tragic happens to us. Each of us would have a recent photo represent the love of Christ and the togetherness of one family.

The backpack of clean water, other countries struggle with clean water. The Rice's would have a backpack of water and a water filter that cleans water through ditches canals and lakes. This can be our bargaining strategy for food and other resources.

After arriving in the new country perhaps I was told that I was going to have one item and that would be the backpack full of water and filters. The Rice’s is Walk of Life is a part of Biblical history, as well as recent photos that I can no longer take with us. Since our body is made of about 80% of water the Rice’s will utilize this resources for housing, food, clothing and other resources of Lifestyle. While sharing the gospel and creating a new family photo.

The insight that I gain from this experience about family culture, culture difference, and our family values, is the diversity ethics of cultural values of lifelong learning skills. Educators in the field of Early Childhood need to seek to understand diversity culture as a part of their Lifestyles and acceptance.

When I Think of Research in the Field Of Early Childhood

Is When Lifelong Learning Begins!

When I think of research in the field of early childhood, it reminds me of the banking system. The banking systems are designed to help educate regarding checks and balances and other economic situations. In the field of early childhood research, I would say how many deposits or withdrawals that you're investing in the individual child.

When You Deposited!  

Deposited:
When Guardians are depositing social and economic values, lifelong learning skills, reading and math skills, I wouldn't reference this to depositing culture values so that the child has a chance to understand later on in life.

When You Withdrawal!

Withdrawals:
When guardians withdrawing from their child health issues, or neglect their behavior influence of emotion with friends and themselves, I would say the guardians are aware of the child major problem of social and emotional issues. These withdrawals can affect a child early stage of life and social and emotions skills later in life.

My proposal to the situation regarding deposits and withdrawals is for the guardians to have well-balanced lifestyles. Providing necessary assessments (Assessing Qualitative Research) for the individual child to be successful in later stages of life. Guardians should provide food water and shelter rather than neglect violence in other harmful issues.

Educators are consulate revising quantitative research designs regarding early childhood research. For an example, participants observation focusing on how the research collected by observation or natural cause. Direct observation, educators are directly observing what is taking place in their environment, school environment or any other situation. Both of these scenarios are valuable to quantitative research designs of learning with an open mindset.

Life 

In the recent article Empirical Study of Parents Perceptions of Preschool Teacher Competence in China, parents from both urban and rural areas want their child to be love and respect by teachers and their influence. Parents are possessing their child to be successful in the early stage of life, and teachers are doing the same as well. Parents share their love by demonstrating and be a part of their life. EECERA Ethical Code for Early Childhood Researchers

The EECERA ethical code is intended as a guiding framework for all those involved in early childhood research and the publication and dissemination of its results. The ethical principles and guidelines have been developed by a working group of EECERA Trustees through a collaborative process with, amongst others, the involvement of the Coordinating Editor of the International Journal of Early Years Education.

EECERA Ethical Principles These principles are set out with the intention of encouraging Early Childhood researchers to work in the spirit of aspiring to achieve these high ethical expectations within all aspects of their work.

• The child, family, community and Society emphasis on child development
• Justice and equality
• Social contribution  and much more

I was amazed of the research practice guidelines such as responsibility towards participants voluntary and informed consent. Research must be voluntary, informed consent of honesty information that the individual can agree or disagree.

Volunteer participation consists of the right to participate in one of the most basic information of all research opportunity. Allowing the individual to agree or disagree on a certain topic, issue or trend.

Enclosing the code of ethic in early childhood serves its purpose for young children value and creates the next generation of high standard hopes and practices in the workplace and in the school environment.
