Hello Mohan,
I think that you did a great job on this and I like that you picked Finland. I did not think about it and sure don’t know anything about it. I also like how you broke it down to explain it to everyone. My question is how would you prepare for the child that is coming into you school from Finland? You gave your mission, vision, challenge, solution, and program but you didn’t say what you would do to prepare for them.
Thank you Melissa
I agree with Melissa, your mission, vision, challenge, solution, and program gave great insight that help establish a sound foundation for a program or school but what are some ways that you plan to help children from other countries adapt to a new environment and what are some unique ways you can foster healthy and welcoming relationships with families?
Mohan
I have to agree with the others. I love that you enlightened us in terms of the vision, challenges and solutions of having immigrant students, and it is great that you have highlighted this because these are important aspects of preparing for immigrant students in our classroom. How would you personally and professionally prepare for a student that has a background that you are unfamiliar with and a culture that is totally different to yours?
Thank you all for taking the time to read this week's assignment. Welcoming international family members from Finland, personally, I believe in understanding their culture from their point of view. Allowing each family members to explain their culture and ethnicity to the residence of California.
Doing so, family members will feel welcome to stay without any hesitations or expectations of behaviors of residents that live in California. As a professional prepare them to the different cultures and ethnicities that reside in California. Basic necessities such as food water and shelter and employment establishing a firm foundation.
Most importantly, allowed each family member to express their home life situation whether through poverty, tragedies or life experience to share the love of diversity in California. Residents from California can learn from them and vice versa.
Personally, this is a new territory for myself but I would love to Journey and meet family members from this area.
Thanks all, I hope this is helpful if you have any questions or concerns please reply.
Hello Mohan,
I want to say that I have enjoyed reading all you blog throughout this class. I could not agree with you more about that educators need to be willing to go the extra mile of including students, family members and the community regarding diversity in their local area; this will help educate awareness about diversity. I have to say that you are right with everything that you said. Yes, life is like a box of chocolates. I wash you the best of luck in your journey.
